A big hit Jun 30, 2010
By AB Our two year old was *obsessed* with this toy for months. It's well made and keeps the interest of our highly distractable child and, in our experience, teaches them things other than the alphabet and 26 simple words. It certainly helped train his memory and taught him some new motor skills, and additionally he learned how to sort the pieces he had solved, relative locations ("I see the 'P', it's under/next to/above the 'W'") and patience.

Educational and fun Oct 30, 2009
By Rose My 3 year old son loves to play this game. The pieces are nicely illustrated and sturdy. A great way to get your little one to start souding out and later spelling words, as well as counting and recognizing numbers. Very educational and fun for the little ones.

Great investment - Great for meal time activity! Jun 09, 2011

I was looking for a way to battle the desires of my 2 and 4 year old to want to watch TV during dinner and other meals. This game and the others (Rhyming and Simple Words) were the answer to my problems! Now we pick which game we want to play during dinner and leave plenty of room on the table to spread out the cards. The kids have not even mentioned TV since we started to play. It's nice for all ages and they can't help but to learn as they are playing! Repetition is the key to learning and this game provides for that. The pieces are sturdy and colorful and because we eat during dinner....the pieces get their fair share of "stuff" dropped onto them...they clean up just fine. I would recommend this game to anyone looking to enrich the time they spend with their kids with fun AND learning. I have even noticed that my kids are not as "picky" while eating since they are so engaged with the game.

Educational??? please give me advice. Nov 18, 2011
By ayame I am a mother of two children and currently the younger one (2 years old) is interested in learning the alphabet and was introduced to this game. I would give 2 stars for this product because:
(1) The material is sturdy and durable. The size is right for toddler's hands.
(2) At least my kid enjoys playing it by himself.
My big concern is ... how come each letter card shows BOTH upper and lower cases? Toddlers cannot recognize two different letters at the same time. Think about learning a foreign language and you have to learn two different letters at the same time just like 'hiragana' and 'katakana' in Japanese. Even the smartest learner cannot recognize each new letter at a glance and learn its system efficiently.
Therefore my guess was that my kid would learn the alphabet inefficiently ... and indeed I learned he did not get it at all yet. I decided to take it out from our learning toy lists.
Unfortunately it remained a big negative impression and skeptical feeling toward to the Eeboo product development team for this product. Did they hire a professional educator as an adviser for its specification? How come they can address this is an educational product? What theory is behind in this educational product putting together upper and lower cases in the same card? If anyone knows, I would appreciate your feedback so that I should be able to use this product properly and don't waste money. My thought is that this product will be more attractive if there are upper and lower cases for each set.
Educational and well made May 19, 2012
By ycm A great way to get your little one to encourage letter and sound recognition, as well as counting and recognizing numbers. Very educational and fun for the little ones. My 2 1/2 year old son had a hard time staying engaged for the whole alphabet, but I could see how this would be great for a 3 year old.
