Let's move on from Asian false stereotypes, please! Jul 24, 2009
By herodotus I agree with the people who said that toy manufacturers need to be more "with it," in order to develop a wider customer base. Allowing people to buy the dolls separately would be a step in the right direction. Also, why are dolls in the "asian" family all sporting the same tired stereotyped bowl cut??? That made me laugh out loud. It looks like in the two versions of white families, a great deal of time and effort was made to give individual members different hair types, colors, haircuts. I am aware that most east asians have dark hair, but we have a variety of hair textures believe it or not (from stick straight to wavy and even sometimes, curled) from light brown to blue-black. We certainly do not all have the same haircuts!!!

Doll house dolls for every family Dec 31, 2007
By Linda J. Ray These Plan Toys Asian Family dollhouse dolls are very cute and well made. They are reasonably flexible so that you can make them sit or stand or appear to do things reasonably well. However, it would be very very useful if the dolls could be sold separately with custom ordered skin color, eye color, hair color, and hair length. We were trying to create a family of dolls to go with a Navajo hogan. The only Indian dolls you have do not look Navajo at all. The Asian dolls came the closest and we will need to adjust the clothing and will be unable to give the men long hair which would be more appropriate. Mixed race families will have an even harder time creating a family to emulate their own. Most folks can't afford to purchase three sets of dolls in order to get for instance a black father, a caucasian mother, and a mixed race child. I believe you would gain a lot of new customers if you could sell the dolls individually and even more if they could be customized.

Very cute, but clothes fall apart Dec 30, 2011
By Nikolatesla
"AER's mom"
These dolls are well made and a great alternative to plastic. I like everything about the dolls except the clothes. The red dress on the mom fell apart upon the second day of my daughter playing with her. There isn't an opening (with velcro or anything), so it has to squeeze over the feet causing more stress on the dress. The ribbon straps loosened and became detached since there was no reinforcing seam on the straps. Also, The fabric isn't turned in so the stripes (which are actual stitches) are unraveling. When the manufacturer sewn in the stripes, they didn't do a back stitch (sealing the seam). I noticed this on the inside of the dress. This is very frustrating. $20 for a set of dolls with cheaply made clothes -- ugg!
