Sturdy, Good Tone Sep 23, 2008
By Melba R. O'connell We purchased this for our 12 month old grandson - an instant hit!!! He loved it. It is sturdy and well-constructed with a nice tone. His mother, the music teacher, was very happy with it.

Not sure... Apr 08, 2009

"Brodie's Mom"
I love the concept of this company, being "green" and all; that is great. However, I bought this for my son for his first birthday. I wanted something classic that he could keep and give to his children one day. This toy comes apart too easy. It is very annoying to sit there and try to put the pieces back on. They are easy to get on and difficult to get back on. My toddler constantly pulls them off as soon as I put them back on. If they could come up with an idea that would somehow not allow the bars to be removed, it would be much better. If you want a musical toy that will last, I would go with the baby grand piano. Durable and fun!

A great toy from THAILAND Nov 19, 2008

"Consumer Information Advocate"
This toy is fairly sturdy and has a nice sound to it. It seems the other two reviewers didn't do their homework when it comes to where the toy is manufactured. PLAN TOYS is a Thai company and their toys are manufactured in THAILAND, not the US or Taiwan (which is Chinese). Plan Toys is, however, a "green" company, and makes quality toys. The US market is inundated with with Chinese toys, and nowadays even quality toy makers like German HABA are producing some of their products in China. It is our duty, I feel, as parents, to inform ourselves where our childrens' toys are coming from. Thailand is an up and coming competitor on the toy market, and apparantly is striving for quality standards that China could only dream of.

quality wood toy sparks creativity Nov 19, 2009
By Jenette Miller The wooden base and metal keys give this xylophone a more sophisticated feel versus cheap plastic ones I've seen. The style works well for both older and younger kids. My 22 month old son really enjoys this toy and the tone is pleasant even if his playing isn't perfect. It seems durable and has already been dropped repeatedly without showing any signs of damage. The built-in holder underneath keeps the stick from being lost and is a big plus for mom. Good early instrument for toddlers.

Educational and fun Nov 01, 2009

"a New England mom"
Birthday gift, very much enjoyed by four year old boy. He likes anything to do with musical instruments. This has a "grown-up" feel to it as opposed to some of the more typical kiddy xylophone. Could be good for a slightly older child too. Has a nice sound to it. Only dislike are the bars are a little wobbly. It's not a big concern but if not cared for well I would be worried they could pop off.
UPDATE: Still in use and has held up flawlessly! (2 years later)
