Great Toy! May 08, 2008
By J. Ewert I bought this for my three year old. He really loves it. It promotes thought process and outcomes. You also learn shapes and colors. I completely recommend this. Comes in a handy storage tube, so the little pieces do get lost. Good price too for the hours of fun. It could even be a grown-up toy!

We got this years ago at Target; I am finally getting around to reviewing it. It's 100% bamboo, and very sturdy. It's for ages 4-99, and for 2-6 players. Cheerfully designed; very eye-catching. Even comes with a little pouch to keep the small pieces within. This is how you play/highlights:
-Set up is so easy...all you do is place the rod with attached deck into the curved blue piece, slap on the flag, tweak the thin rope that supports the deck to your liking (you can make this game more challenging for older kids), and the fun is on.
-You get a bunch of included small, bamboo pieces (36): natural colored cylinders, red half circles, and yellow rectangles.
-Everyone takes turns...you roll the die, and whatever small bamboo piece(s) image rolls up is what you place on the deck. The deck will list in whatever direction that piece is placed on, and the degree of listing depends on the weight of the piece or pieces (eg.half circle has less effect on the deck than a cylinder). If anything goes "kerplunk", you're out. Winner is the last one standing. Game is about ten minutes on average.
-You can roll: one cylinder, one half circle, one rectangle, one cylinder with half circle, one cylinder with square, one square with half circle.
-Little ones will learn shapes, reading (the die), and the whole balancing act, and faster than you can imagine! Both of my daughters have even used this game in imaginary play.
-Easy cleanup. A game you will want to keep for future generations.

This was a Christmas gift for our almost 4-year-old daughter. Even though she loves it when the boat tilts and all the pieces fall off, she is learning quickly how to place the pieces so that does not happen too soon, or to her! It's a relatively quick game and easy to play. My almost 7-year-old enjoys it, too. She mastered it quickly.
If we can keep all the pieces together, this game will last a long time. The pieces are very small, so I'd be extra vigilant if I had a baby in the house.

My son loves this game! It teaches you shapes along with playing well with others. It's a little like Janga for kids. It teaches kids to balance things well to make the game last longer. Fun!!!!

This game is a lot of fun for the whole family (of over 3s as there are a lot of really small pieces). This teaches shape recognition and balancing in a fun way. We also have our daughter count the pieces as we put it away. The average game is approx 5 minutes and it really is fun to play with our child. I like that all of the pieces tuck back into a little bag and it storeseasily in it's container! This makes a great eco-friendly gift as well!
