Blocks - Simple, Educational, Fun! Aug 31, 1999
My one year old and I love his ABC blocks with bag. I stack the blocks and he knocks them down. We spell his name, and point to the different animal pictures as we sing "Old MacDonald". Daddy and I even use them to play a type of quasi Scrabble game. I believe we will use his blocks for years to come. With the alphabet, numbers, mathmatical symbols, and animal pictures, uses for them seem to be endless (i.e. stacking, spelling, counting, math, identifying animals). They are also very durable and can easily take the punisment of a toddler. With so many toys now requiring batteries I find the simplicity of ABC blocks, along with their promotion of thinking and coordination (stacking) refreshing.

A favorite with all four of my children Nov 25, 2000
My oldest son, now 6 got a set of these blocks as a gift when he turned one. I have four children, and we play with them almost every day. They are larger than regular ABC blocks. THey have a picture of an animal on one side, letters on two sides, as well as numbers on other sides. You can do so much with these to teach. THey are just plain fun as well! My boys stack them up to race cars through their towers, we use them to spell, motor skills for my younger children. Alphabetizing skills for my older ones with the animal names. The children take turns to see who can stack the most. The blocks are so durable too. You can hardly tell they have been played with for 5 years! I just got these for a baby shower gift, and several people asked where I got them because they are so nice. I recommend the bag for the blocks as opposed to the wagon because they are easier to pick up and toss in a bag rather than putting them back in the wagon.

The very best block set there is! Nov 28, 2001
By Heather Walton These ABC blocks by Uncle Goose are the best made blocks you will find anywhere. I looked everywhere to find blocks for my 15 month old. Most are for 3 and up because they are too small and too destructable. Not these blocks! These are 1.75 inches each and have 100% safe paint for babies and up. My 15 month old chews on everything and she was not able to bite the paint off of these blocks, like she was easily able to with most other blocks on the market that I returned! The animal carvings on the blocks are really nice. They have numbers, A - Z and 27 animals for toddlers to look at. My child loves playing with these and stacking them up then knocking them down. I wanted to be sure she had these blocks for her 1st birthday. You can't go wrong with this classic toy. It is excellently made and very fun! A must have for all children ages 1 and up.

Instant heirloom Jun 12, 2007

These are very fine, American-made blocks in basswood. Hugely expensive for 26 small cubes of wood, I admit, but we're happy not worrying whether there's cheap toxic paint on them, or if some political prisoner somewhere is slaving for our son's pleasure.
One caveat: They're not as well-finished as I'd like, especially for the price. Many have a rough kerf, potentially splintery, and required a minute or two with some fine-grade sandpaper to smooth. Fortunately, the basswood isn't all that hard, and the edges came right down. On the flip side, the basswood isn't all that hard, and rough treatment will undoubtedly mark them up over the years; I would have preferred hardwood.

Nice blocks Jan 15, 2010

These are very nice blocks. No sharp edges. Just the right size not too small like most blocks. Love that they came with a bag & don't mind paying a little extra for it. The only thing that could make these better is if all of the sides were nicely carved in. Only two of the letters on each block is, the others are just stamped. We love them & bought the lowercase set also. We plan to use the blocks when our little one comes to spell out the age each week & take weekly pictures.
Lindenwood/Uncle Goose has great customer service if you loose a block, or one becomes damaged... the canvas bag we got had a small hole in the side & I called to buy a replacement ... they sent a new one, free of charge, no questions asked. Fabulous customer service!
