 An excellent quality item Feb 18, 2011

I purchased this for my 2,4 & 5 yr olds. We have lots of puzzles and math manipulatives, however this puzzle has really been a hit. I went in and found my 2 yr old sitting on the carpet with this out and he was moving a 1/2 piece out of its place and replacing it with 2 1/4 pieces and such, and really having a great time being very interested in seeing what he could do next it seemed. It is a very nice quality, no rough edges, everything fits perfectly and everything is equal that should be equal. We've purchased items in the past that are not as consistent and it is frustrating when that happens. Of course it is a wood product which makes it that much better as well. Definitely a worthwhile investment for any child's learning area.

I think this is best for around 2 years of age. It's certainly not challenging for a 3 year old.

I really like how well made this wooden puzzle is. However we gave this to our son at 2 1/2 and it was just too easy. I'll be hanging on to it to better explore fractions, but he doesn't spend much time with it because he doesn't even have to think about where the pieces go. I think this would be a great addition to children's first puzzle collections so they are exposed to this one at the same time as other shape/ animal ones. Great educational value and learning tool! It's a great way to discuss fractions as well.
