Cool Card Games, Great Way to Learn States and Capitals Nov 30, 2009

My kids and I enjoyed playing several of the games whose rules were included with these cards. There are 50 cards, and each one has the state on one side and capital on the other. You can play a simple game of "guess the state" or there are other games that involve the population, area, nickname etc (all of this information is on the cards). The design is very nice and the cards are laminated and durable.

How great to find such high quality state capital cards! I definitely recommend them.
Combined with repeatedly listening to "Wakko's 50 State Capitals" song, one can rapidly learn the state capitals and get through fifth grade with flying colors.

My grandkids are always asking to play this. Even the 3 year old enjoys it. The state nicknames are different than when I was growing up,but perhaps they have been updated.

These are sturdy, glossy, colorful cards. They have the state pictured, with a marginally correct location for the capital, and the population and size. If you love flash cards, you will love these. But don't think that the "games" are going to make your child a geography genius. They are ok, but nothing you couldn't have made up on your own.
Nevertheless, they were very helpful in teaching my child the state capitals.

These cards are really large and brightly-colored. They cost a little more than a set of regular flash cards, but they are much nicer-looking and very durable too. We have been playing with these as a family, using the rules for different card games that are included. Our kids (8 and 12) have already learned all the state capitals and are beating my husband and I at the games!
