 Great overall except for the kabab Jun 09, 2010

I purchased this for my daugther who is 18-months and not the recommended age of 3 listed by the manufacturer. I love the piece of meat, it is soft, durable and well made. The fish is made of a bead-like stuffing which gives it a different and interesting texture that compliments the meat. The three sausages are made of the same material as the meat and they are also soft and durable. However, I have some major issues with the skewer. Even when my daugther turns 3, I would still hesitate giving her the skewer because while the top of it is rounded, and I assumed well attached, my daugther was able to take the top off within the first minute of playing with it under supervision. The entire skewer is quite thin and, in my opinion, not child friendly at any age. Also, the skewer pieces are quite thin and small which makes them easy to lose. My biggest disappointment is that the pieces of the skewer are kept on by a rubber band at the bottom. Without the rubber band, I am not sure how the kabab pieces would stay put on the skewer when a child holds it up. This was a big disappoinment and an oversight in my opinion.

I bought these to go on a play grill for my 15 month-old. I don't like the idea of buying plastic foods that I know she will suck on all day. While she has put the plush food in her mouth -- she doesn't tend to do it often, like she would with a plastic toy. She has not been able to get the Kabob apart -- which was a concern. I am very excited about the whole line of plush foods by Haba -- but also others I have found on Amazon. I plan to stock her play kitchen with plush things when we buy her a kitchen set. Great toy -- love it -- very, very cute.

My 2-year-old loves playfood and this one is one of her favorite. The fish is shiny and squishy and the kabob provides threading skill-building. The meat is a little big and the she calls the sausages 'bananas' but who cares? She loves it :)
