great set at a good price Oct 01, 2010

This is a great starter set for someone wanting to build up some nice wooden play foods for their kids. It's nice to have more than one of some items so the kids can play grocery store and not just cook with them. The shopping bag it comes in is great for this kind of play. Each fruit is about 2" in total length, which is the same as other haba foods. Haba foods are not proportional, each play food is about the same size even though in real life they are very different in size. All haba play foods are very, very high quality and are made to European safety standards (no Chinese lead paint here!). The picture is a good representation, our shopping bag is a much tighter weave than is shown in the picture. The set would be perfect if one or to of the pears were green or brown, yellow is an uncommon color for pears (I wonder if it's more common in Germany, where these were made) and if one or two of the apples were red.

My daughter got this for christmas. She loves carrying around the bag full of the play food. She is two years of age. I love the product and would get it again but the only thing was that one of the stems she was able to pull out. We glued it and it is fine now, but for little pieces, that could be dangerous. Either way she loves playing with it in her kitchen :)

These fruits are too cute for words. They are really well made. My almost 3 year old loves to count them as she cooks them in her pot, or shops. She sorts them by color too. I love how they are interesting to touch and feel. There is just a warmth to wood products that plastic can't deliver on. Her kitchen is in our living room, so it's important that I enjoy looking at them, since i look at them all the time!

I just wrote a review for the veggies. Amazing product, just beware of the size. For some reason I was thinking they would be average size of a "real" fruit/vegetable. In actuality they are the size of a golf ball. With that being said, I think it ended up working out perfectly for their play kitchen because it fits their little hands, bowls, plates, pots & pans, etc. PLUS---it's not a 100 piece plastic set that will get ruined and you can't keep track of them. Moms, Dads, Grandparents, etc....do yourself or the person you're buying for a favor-less is more ESPECIALLY when it comes with something to put the toy back into. Love it!

I am a huge fan of anything made by Haba and this is no exception. The bag is well made and the toys will last forever I'm sure just like all the other well made toys we have from them, very very happy with this purchase!
