A perfect first doll! Dec 08, 2007
By Alice
"teacher"
I've gotten this doll for my granddaughter's first Christmas. I am ever so pleased with the quality of workmanship. The facial features are stitched on, she's soft and huggable, just the right size for our little girl, the hair is not yarn, and this doll has no plastic or vinyl on her. I do have a concern about the laces on the shoes for a child so young, but my daughter assures me that they will be removed and not used until our granddaughter is of an age that they will not longer pose a danger. I am not purchasing additional clothing for her (although I love the clothing that could be purchased) because I remember that my children's dolls mostly went around naked for quite a while when my girls were little, and I feel it would be better to wait until the dolls stay clothed before making that purchase. I do recommend this doll. She's just right for us. I can hardly wait for Christmas!

Wonderful fabric doll Feb 10, 2010
By Art E. Misia This is the nicest fabric doll I've come across. My daughter loves her, and they've become close friends. The flower ponytail holder that doll and child can share is a sweet idea, but it is way too small to be actually useful, unless the child has extremely fine hair. This doll is very well made, and nice-looking. Cuddly and girly but in more of a "real" way than a lot of other dolls I've seen. Lovely and fun. The clothes are also very cute and well-made. I would like to find more outfits for her.
A note on origin: I was looking for a fabric doll that was not made in china, and was unable to find one. I liked this Nele doll, which is by haba, designed in germany and made in china. This was clearly stated on the website, and also on the box, which I appreciated. Haba's fabric goods from China do seem to be very well made, but sometimes they can "forget" to mention when something has been all or partially made outside the EU, and the price doesn't always reflect that. It's nice to have full information so one can purchase according to what's important to the individual, whether it's origin, quality or price.

1 Year Old LOVES It! Jan 02, 2010
By C. Teleki We wanted to get our 1 year old daughter a doll for her first birthday, since she's been enamored with the neighbor's baby dolls. I don't really like the plastic/vinyl dolls that much. I find that the cheaper ones tend to be creepy looking and the more expensive ones, which are usually more beautiful, to be too much money to spend for a 1 year old's first doll. I looked at the Waldorf dolls as well, but those also seemed to be so pricey, and I wasn't sure how my daughter would like them. When I found Nelly, she seemed like the perfect doll (she is only 12", not 15" as the description says). When our daughter opened it on her birthday she said "baby!" and we couldn't get it out of the package fast enough for her. Happily, the package didn't have her strapped in with 40 little plastic/wire things, which was also very refreshing! The 12" size is perfect for her; she carries Nelly around all over the house. The body of the doll is nice and solid, but it's soft enough that if she swings it around and hits herself she doesn't get hurt. The clothes are well made and the hair is sewn in nice and tight. The flower hair band is supposed to be for your child or the doll, but I find that it doesn't fit either very well. My daughter has a lot of hair, and I can get it in a ponytail, but the flower is so heavy that it kind of flops to the side. Not that this is a huge deal, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Overall, if you're looking for a great doll for a little one, I'd say this one is the perfect choice. We'll probably be giving her other dolls from the HABA collection as she gets older.

This is actually my second purchase of this doll. My daughter loves this doll and she has been dressing it and playing with it for 2 years. the doll is washer safe and can be cleaned well. i am replacing it and hoping to get this before she notices as our doll has met with an unfortunate accident. This is a very durable doll.
