I got these blocks for the children of a Russian/American couple I know. I think the Dad may have liked them the best, but it brought a little bit of their homeland here and they loved them.
The third party seller was also excellent to work with. I had to call their customer service to make sure they would arrive before the party and they were so kind and helpful. You just don't get customer service like that too much anymore.
These Russian blocks would also make an excellent gift for an art or architecture student. They are very high quality.

I can't say enough about HABA blocks. My four year old loves the architectural sets. We have several sets and he loves to combine them and create fun architectural fantasies--some like the cities he sees near us on the east coast--some flights of fancy. These blocks are very sturdy yet finely made with lovey detail. The are of a standard size so you can mix and match them with other HABA sets. They also work well with other block sets like those by Melissa and Doug--though they are a bit smaller in scale.
This set includes several pointed arches and onion domes that are just beautiful.

I was pleased with these blocks and so were my grandsons. They arrived very quickly when we were visiting our grandsons.
