11 month old loves these blocks Dec 22, 2009
By Elise's mom I bought these blocks to use as a toy during "independent playtime" in the playpen. I got nervous putting hard toys in there because my daughter is learning how to walk and I didn't want her to fall on anything that could hurt her. She loves to chew on them, shake them, touch them, and is starting to learn how to stack them. She also loves the velcro. They come with a great carrying case as well. The quality is wonderful and they will last for a long time.

Should be first in Amazon searches! Aug 14, 2011
By Anisara I can't believe how under-reviewed this is on Amazon. My nearly 7 month old daughter loves these blocks and so do I. She's still too young to stack anything by herself but if I dump everything out of the bag, she loves grabbing each piece and failing it around. She's gotten a real kick out of these since she was old enough to be amused by sounds (crinkling, ringing, squeaking), which was around 5 months. The favorite, by far, is the cone shaped piece although I can't figure out why.
These are very well constructed and personally, I love the simplicity of the set. I deduct one star only because everything Haba stands for is about quality and safety; that's the main reason I was so attracted to the brand. I was somewhat surprised to find the 'Made in China' label on the bottom of the box. Not sure why I thought the Haba toys were made in Germany and Sweden.

Toxic Smelling Dec 23, 2011
By Bethany S These had a horrible toxic smell to them when I first opened the bag. The bag smelled like vinyl to me. At first, I thought the blocks just absorbed the smell of the plastic bag. But they wouldn't air out and even after being machine washed they still stunk. I think they may have polyurethane foam in them, which is definitely toxic and can offgas for awhile. That may have been what I was smelling. I have another foam / cloth ball by them that didn't smell as bad. I gave my daughter that... I couldn't give her these, though. I didn't want her mouthing them.
All Haba cloth toys are also made in CHINA.

Fantastic first blocks for baby! Feb 13, 2008
By globy This is the perfect first set of blocks for a baby because they're soft so baby can't get hurt. The colors are vibrant and most of the pieces make some sort of sound, either rattling or crinkling. My 7 month old is too young to build with them herself, but she has fun knocking down my creations. This is currently my favorite toy for my baby, and I love that the blocks are washable, unlike a lot of soft toys out there that are surface wash only (which is kind of garbage in my opinion). Also unlike plastic toys, you don't need to worry about chemicals like phthalates leaching out of these blocks when your baby chews on them. Haba toys are great because they're very well designed and Europeans have more stringent requirements and do more testing for children's toys.

My favorite toy, and she loves it too Feb 15, 2009
By David This is my favorite toy for our 9 month old, and she's loved it since she got it at 7 months. The blocks are of superb quality and each one has different fabrics and makes a different sound when rattled. This is the ultimate baby gift as it is something the parents will enjoy as much as the child. Extremely highly recommended.
