Flat Animal Blocks Nov 30, 2009

While this is recommended for 3+, I purchased it for my 14 month old. I expected to be pleased when it arrived, but I am thrilled instead! These are high quality, wooden "tags." My daughter loves tags and anything that is flat with a picture on it. She obviously doesnt play a memory game with it yet, however she enjoys removing them from the bag and either showing them to us or setting them down. Then she puts them back in the bag, etc. There are the usual animals like dog, cat, and lion, and there are also alligator, hippo, panda and walrus, plus many more. Anyone who has a 14 month old lives repetetively and it's actually fun to keep telling her what each picture is because it's just so exciting for her. When she pulls out the bee, we make a buzzing sound, with the cat, a meow, etc.
As for what this is intended for, a memory game: each tile has a curve on each end so that while they are face down they are easy for little fingers to pick up. This makes it a much better choice for the game than playing cards, plus these will last forever.

The biggest plus for this set are the beveled edges that make the peices easy for little fingers to pick up.

I bought this for my 18 month old. While she doesn't play memory yet, we use them for matching, learning the animals, making their sounds, etc. They do nit appear to be a choking hazard. They are great for babies who like to collect and sort. We absolutely adore them. I would however tie an extra knot in the bag's cord because it is long enough to go around a toddler's neck.

We received this toy about a week or more after ordering it which was fine since i had gotten the free super saving shipping. I didnt notice at first that we received three alligator pieces and only one panda. I was kind of bummed about that but what was i to do. That is only a problem with the machine i guess that sorted it and had nothing to do with quality. Quality wise, theyre great and despite the switched pieces i would recommend as a gift to any child. You can use them as dominoes (stacking in a row upright and letting your child watch them fall). I still think i might call the company Plan Toys and complain about the pieces. Hope you enjoyed!

I bought this matching game for my daughter who is 19 months old. She is too young to flip over the pieces and play a true "memory" game, so we show her one tile and ask her to find the matching one. She loves it. The pieces are sturdy and colorful and easy to grab with little hands. The cloth pouch is great for storing. Glad I went with this brand... sturdy and will last for years.
