Great idea--poor construction--my solution included! May 06, 2010
By A NY Mom We purchased MY First Dollhouse by Plan Toys and all the room furniture for our twins' second birthday from Amazon--it was a huge hit and I highly recommend it for imaginative play, etc. Awesome dollhouse!! We also received several other accessories from friends--the playground being one of them. Of course, they both loved it and could barely stand to share it at times;however, they soon discoverd that the swing set was more work and frustration than it was worth. The toy does not stand up on its own when in use. It collapses and falls down when trying to get the dolls into the swings, etc. And forget about "pushing" the dolls on the swing. Because the toy is so poorly constructed, even with the most gentle of pushes, the whole set would just get knocked down...unless I was there to hold it up! I would overhear one of our daughters call out, "I got it!" only to have it fall down all over again. FRUSTRATING!! It's such a cool piece, though, and I wanted the girls to enjoy it, so I came up with a way to solve the problem. SOLUTION: 1. Purchase a 9x13 piece of stiff felt from a craft store 2. Cut a piece of plywood the same size 3. Position swing set onto felt and mark where the four yellow posts rest, use an exacto knife to cut out the 4 small squares of felt 4. Hot glue the felt piece to the board, then drop a dollop of hot glue onto the four spaces cut out for the posts 5. Set the swing set back into position on the felt board, lining up the posts to the squares you cut out from the felt.
The toy is now sturdy as a rock and the girls can play with it independently now. Sure they still need help, at this age, getting the dolls into the swings--but once on--the girls can push the dolls on the swing and rings without knocking the whole thing down--and without me holding it up. It works so much better this way. It's solid now and ready for hours and hours of play! The sand box is fun and the see-saw is pretty cool, too! Good quality just poorly constructed.

Terrible Quality Nov 03, 2009
By T. Hope Mcgonigle We got this on clearance at a little local toy store. We were excited to see it on sale because it was on our daughter's wish list here. The pieces are supposed to snap together and stay that way. A few did, but there is one connector that won't stay and one that NEVER went in. We even went as far as trying hammers and pliers to try to squeeze it in. We really should have taken it back, but instead we sort of prop it up against her doll house. Not a great solution, but at least the sandbox and teeter-totter are usable.

Swing set WILL NOT stay together Dec 26, 2008
By ducksinarow We got this last christmas, I thought it was fine at first. But the swing set will not stay together. It is held together with little black plastic snap on system that seriously doesn't work.

My daughter's favorite Sep 19, 2009

Whenever my 2 and 1/2 year old daughter plays dollhouse, this is what her dolls always use. It is a lot of fun to make them climb up and down the slide and swing on the swing and rings. Definately the favorite part of her dollhouse. Originally, the set did not stay together well. We used a little wood glue where the plastic snaps are (2 places) and it is now fine. We haven't had a problem with it since.

Ok, Plan Toys seems like a great company and my 3 year old loves the people.. but so far everything we've purchased other than the already-assembled little wooden people has had major problems! This playground is great in theory... see saw, slide swings.. she was so excited to take it out and play with it.. Of course Plan Toys is a foreign company and their assembly instructions have no words what so ever. I figured the little black knobs were meant to snap together, but for the life of me, I cant get them in! Some other reviews recommend wood glue, but you cant glue something that wont even attach! This playground is USELESS if it wont assemble! I am so frustrated with the company at this point- I received the Chalet Dollhouse with most of the wood pieces completely warped and had to be returned! Talk about a bummed kid on christmas.. and now this... WTH PLAN TOYS???
