A Favorite Dec 16, 2009
By Motea My 2-year-old daughter loves anything related to construction, so I thought she'd enjoy doing some hammering. Boy, was I right! The day I gave her this toy for the first time, she played with it for what seemed like hours. I had to tear her away from it. Months later, she still loves it. It's such a simple, well-designed toy. The design of the swivel part--so that you can flip over the pegs and have at them again--is so elegant. I think this is one of the best toys I've ever bought. And it seems to speak to a primal part of a toddler!

Happy Dec 10, 2010
By smickiti All as described and nicely designed. 13 month old likes it and uses it one way now seeing as hammering is still a hard skill, and usage will evolve as different skills develop.

More versatile than it looks. Aug 31, 2011

"Tome Raider"
I wondered if it was just my love of wooden toys making me order this, or if my 22-month-old grandson would like it as well. I needn't have worried -- this has become one of his favorite activities at my house and he has discovered a lot of ways to play with this beautiful, simple, well-made pounding toy. He loves flipping the peg board over and pushing the pegs through with his thumbs then sticking them back in their holes, as well as simply pounding away at them. The colors are lovely and the pegs are smooth and he loves to carry them around with him and put them through openings in other toys, like his shape sorter, or add them to towers he builds with his blocks. The hammer is beautifully simple and seems to appeal to the "Thor" in him because he carries that around for general banging on things, although we did have to have a little talk about banging on the tv screen. It's a simple but attractive toy that sparks his imagination in new ways every time he comes to visit. I never cease to be surprised at the places he finds to lovingly squirrel away the pegs (sofa cushions, under my lazy-boy, behind the books on his bookshelf, in the pot of my African violet, at the bottom of the umbrella stand, and his favorite spot: the garbage can.) Good for pounding, good for many sessions of hide-and-seek.

Durable toy considering its use Jul 01, 2011
By Garrett Bought this for my daughter when she turned one. It was a little hard for her at first, but she got the hang of it. The hammer is pretty hard, being made out of wood, so it can hurt another child, adult or furniture, so supervised use is advised! Product quality is great and I love the fact it is all wood.
A year later and still pounding away Dec 09, 2011
By Colin and Nash's Mom Our youngest DS is a physical kid. We gave this this for the holidays last year. He still loves it - the hammer is a great size for a toddler hand, and the pegs offer just enough resistance that he seems to love the sense of accomplishment when he's pounded them through. Simple but elegant, we've been impressed.
