Exactly what we expected...though our baby tries to chew on the blocks, and some colors of the paint bleed very slightly. The paint is non-toxic, but it may be best to wait until a child is beyond the stage where he sucks on everything extensively. The size is large enough to not be a choking hazard, yet small enough for baby hands to handle them.

I bought these blocks for my 6 month old and his interest in these grows more as his motor skills develop. I really like that they are in my second langauge, helping me pass it on to my son.
