Quality Product Oct 06, 2008 Some times the simple toys are best. My son just turned 1 and has moved up from just enjoying the boxes that his gifts arrive in. The blocks are brightly colored and durable. The Canvas bag helps make clean up easy. I believe he will enjoy these blocks for a long time learning colors, animals and numbers or for simply just building with. A worth while product.

LOVE it! Aug 30, 2008 my pediatrician had these blocks at her office and my 6 mo. old daughter couldn't stop playing w/them -- well, i had to get her a set and she still loves them. we (as in I) build block towers all day and we (as in she) knocks them down just as fast. can't wait until she can actually recognize the letters and animals on the blocks so they become even more of a learning tool. also, great size, durable and that great "antique" look -- A++

Great Blocks Dec 27, 2007 These blocks by Uncle Goose are wonderful. (By the way, the picture shown currently is not the product). They are alphabet blocks with letters, numbers, and animals. They are engraved on 2 sides and it is very nice. My 8 mo old daughter got them for Christmas and she loves them. They are big enough that she won't choke on them yet small enough that she can pick them up by herself. The drawstring canvas bag they come in is also very nice and a great way to keep them all together and organized. There was another review stating that some of the blocks had rough edges, but ours did not come this way. The corners are fine and the blocks are great to play with right out of the bag. Also I don't see how durability would be a problem, even with the soft wood - they seem perfectly durable enough to me. Overall, very nice blocks, bonus that they are made in USA, and I would highly recommend them.

Uncle Goose Alphabet Blocks in a Bag Dec 04, 2007 These blocks are great! I bought them for my one year old grandson. They are made in the USA, no lead paint, bigger size. A bit pricey for my pocketbook, but my grandson is worth it!! I am very satisfied with this product.

Instant heirloom Jun 12, 2007 These are very fine, American-made blocks in basswood. Hugely expensive for 26 small cubes of wood, I admit, but we're happy not worrying whether there's cheap toxic paint on them, or if some political prisoner somewhere is slaving for our son's pleasure.
One caveat: They're not as well-finished as I'd like, especially for the price. Many have a rough kerf, potentially splintery, and required a minute or two with some fine-grade sandpaper to smooth. Fortunately, the basswood isn't all that hard, and the edges came right down. On the flip side, the basswood isn't all that hard, and rough treatment will undoubtedly mark them up over the years; I would have preferred hardwood.
