Nice blocks, will last a lifetime Mar 19, 2009
By A. Duran These are great blocks and look like they will last forever. I'm impressed with the quality of the letter cutouts, looks to be cut with laser precision. Colors are strong but not too bright, perfect in my opinion.
The letters are not too much different than the English blocks (obviously just a few exceptions for the Spanish letters). However, the important thing to remember is that these blocks have animals on one side - all with the Spanish names. The numbers are also written in Spanish.
They are just the right size for our 5 month old to grab in one hand, and practice his motor skills but will also be useful for a much older child to start spelling, math and maybe even make stories with the animals. And, of course, they'll be fun to stack up and knock over!

Excellent Old World Style Dec 16, 2008

This product is great. High quality, and very stylish. For those who want an alternative to plastic toys, it's a great addition to the toy closet. I must say the previous reviewer's review is ridiculous, and unfair to the product. You can't expect a set of blocks to teach your child a language, or be a substitute for a language school, come on! Review the product, not give low ratings for absurd reasons.

Great block! not for oral little ones Feb 16, 2010
By M. Cardona I love the feel, look, and style of the blocks. Not too heavy so when your toddler throws a temper tantrum and well, throws the blocks it is manageable...well, just as manageable as the temper tantrum itself. (He is not quite 2 yet...we're working on it ^_^)
I got them early on in my son's life so that he would have some nice blocks...as he started teething a molar he chomped on one and the ink did bleed some. I put them away until I knew he was well past his oral stage. This is the worst thing I can say about the blocks.
Overall, we use the blocks on a semi-regular basis and he knows about 6 letters and 4 numbers. nothing savant but effortless (as a bilingual family). It is cool to be at the supermarket and have your young toddler child turn and say, "mama...U"
I use these blocks in teaching my preschool Spanish class and they work great! So I'm not sure how they aren't helpful in learning Spanish. The animals are wonderful and my son really enjoys them. My students enjoy hunting through the blocks for find an animal that starts with this letter or that...I do wish all letters of the alphabet were represented in the animals...but...oh well.
Oh and the numbers are great. I like the ability to do some math stuff as he gets older so they should prove to be a well used toy with longevity...which is key when I buy a toy. I expect EVERY toy to work for ME as long as possible through as many stages as possible and I think this is one of them.
If you are looking for a good solid toy to help reinforce what you are already doing these blocks are wonderful and beautiful (and not feminine) but if you are looking for something to teach your child Spanish that is a little more hands off try a library Spanish reading hour first.

Very Impressed! Nov 04, 2010
By N. Mardis These blocks are FAR better than the sets I've seen anywhere else. They're large enough for little hands to get a good grip on them but not heavy enough to do much damage in terms of hurting themselves. Workmanship is VERY impressive: The letters, pictures and numbers are all cut out and painted with such accuracy (looks like laser etching) that its quite pleasing to the eye. The only problem I personally had (not that it had any affect on my 1-year old) is that the pictures and the letters do not coincide. This seems to be the case with all the blocks I've looked at, but it would be nice if I picked up a block with the letter "C" on it and it had a picture of a chicken on the other side.

This block set isn't all tht helpful as far as learning Spanish goes. Jan 06, 2008
By Veronica I bought this set of blocks to help children learn Spanish. In all honesty, it is not very helpful. A language school is the best way to go to learn any language.
