Not only are the designs delightful, there is also an educational component to each item. For example, the Girl’s World Lunchbox depicts eight girls from around the world in traditional garb, each saying “Hello” in their native language, while the Solar System Lunchbox features all the planets with names included (except poor Pluto who is teary eyed in the far corner!). All Crocodile Creek products conform to American ASTM and European EN-71 toy safety standards. Their lunchboxes have lead-free linings, are phthalate-free and PVC-free, and conform to FDA recommendations.
Phthalates In Children's Toys
Phthalates are chemicals used to make soft and flexible vinyl and plastics. The use of most phthalates in children’s toys has been restricted in the European Union since 1999. In the United States, some phthalates will be restricted from children’s toys in California starting in 2009. Following California’s lead, the US Congress passed a bill banning six phthalates from toys nationally, effective sometime in 2009. It is believed that exposure to phthalates in babies and young children can disrupt the endocrine system and may be related to higher incidence of asthma, allergies, and Diabetes II.
P.S. Don't miss Crocodile Creek's beautiful selection of puzzles and melamine tableware!
