Not enough outfits or mix and match parts... Jun 28, 2010

I bought this because it was one of the few paper doll kits on the market with both a male and female doll (most are female only). Overall, the kit is nicely made - the cardboard background is thick and durable and the dolls aren't too flimsy either. The cling-on outfits stay put. However, each doll only comes with a few outfits, and the outfits are more or less complete (pick one outfit plus hat of choice). I was hoping for more mix and match potential - skirts, pants, shoes, jackets, etc... Instead, outfits are already complete, so it is not too much fun to dress up the dolls. My child spent about 20 minutes with this kit before losing interest. Very disappointing in terms of creativity, though the actual physical quality is decent. Would be nice if there were more stickers for the background art as well, or perhaps more background story on the characters and the period they live in. Cannot recommend due to very limited play options of this set.
