LAME GAME! Dec 26, 2011
By MICHAEL COHEN MY LETTER TO THE MANUFACTURERS
Just writing to you to tell you what a disappointment your Robot Explorer game was to us and our son.
I appreciate the environmental aspect of the game which is what prompted us to purchase in the first place however the game is not functional.
1. The spinner does not spin. How annoying is it to set up the game, punch out the pieces and read the complicated directions (yes they are poorly written and laid out) to find out the spinner doesn't spin.
2. The pieces do not stand up properly. Poor design with the pieces - some cannot stand and other are wobbly and need to be carefully stood up after a turn.
3. Confusing directions. This is overly complicated and bu the way the "white dots" rate not white - maybe the soy based inks need some color correction.
4. Not fun. YOu are so concerned with eco -friendly you forgot to make it fun.
LAME!
Another disappointed customer.

Boring game Aug 26, 2011
By T. Huse Like all of the other reviews, the spinner did not work, so we got a dice. My son (who already knows his planets, hence the reason we bought a solar system game) walked away about after about ten minutes.
The game is essentially just going round and round (1 to 6 spaces at a time) a board (orbits) in turns trying to land on each of the 8 planets to collect each token for the planets. You can change orbits at the four points of the game board, but it just makes it more boring as kids try to figure out what orbit they want to choose.
We wouldn't buy this game again. The box seems to be very proud of its "eco-friendly" nature (soy based inks, 75% recycled material, no plastics), too bad they forgot to make a fun game.
We played it once and never finished it. Not sure I would even freecycle it for fear another family get mad at us for passing off a boring game like this.
I don't like giving low scores to games, but we have had a couple of real clunkers lately as a result of a 5th birthday.
Boring and Non-Functional Jan 22, 2012
By valgray I agree completely with the other 1 star reviews. The spinner isn't functional at all! You will have to replace with a die which I am sure the makers would hate since it is made of plastic (heaven forbid!). The game directions are writen poorly but discernable but all that leads to a very boring game. All you do is get a "specimen" from each planet by going around each orbit. Totally BORING!! Do not purchase this game.
impossibly complicated Oct 14, 2011
By DC Mama I bought this for my 5 y.o. nephew and the 4 smart adults in the room couldn't understand the very complex directions. The pieces are cute, but there sure are a lot of them. The kids ended up making up their own game with the robots. But overall, unfortunately, a waste of money.
Spinner didn't work Aug 07, 2011

Cute game but the spinner didn't work and at we couldn't find a way to fix it. We replaced it with dice. The game was also missing the cotton storage bag referred to on the back of the box. Nine year old enjoyed the game and it took a reasonable amount of time, which is not always the case with luck based games. My favorite educational feature is that the scientific symbols for the planets are used on the game pieces. I would recommend it for a child who enjoys robots and space but would not buy it for a gift because of faulty spinner.
